Campaign Story

My name is Hailee, and I have PCOS along with insulin resistance, PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is one of the most common causes for female infertility. Affecting as many as 5 million women world wide. My husband and I have been trying for over two years to get pregnant, we got pregnant briefly in September of 2022 with the help of Clomid we lost that baby at five weeks gestation. After the loss of that baby my amazing obgyn decided to do some more testing it was found that I have a genetic mutation called MTHFR homozygous which affects the way my body processes Folic Acid, Folic Acid is the only type of folate that is proven to prevent neural tube defects wish are severe birth defects of the brain and spine. So, after this discovery I was prescribed folic acid to take daily, along with instructions for when and if I get pregnant, I must take folic acid and a baby aspirin for the whole pregnancy. Since then we have gone through five more medicated cycles which include Clomid and Letrozole to no success. We recently got a call from our obgyn who has been trying to help us for a long while now and she has exhausted all of her capabilities and is now recommending a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist and higher level of care so we can start IVF, this is our last option. We are currently awaiting the referral and appointment to start the process.
We have a long and extremely expensive journey ahead of us as , insurance does not cover any fertility treatments as they are not considered medically necessary.
I am asking you all to help us with this journey by donating to our fundraiser. We are seeking help with the financial burden of medication costs and a very expensive treatment called IVF which even at the cheapest is $8,000 and we would be honored if you could help us. Even $5 would mean the absolute world to us and help us fight for a family. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
